Slowly getting there

I've still got presents to wrap but the Lacey shawl is finished, I can't find the photos of it so they will have to wait.  The dinosaur jumper is finished and should reach its destination today.

Another present is on its way, a Sooty hand puppet, pattern free with Knit Now magazine.

Another has been started and will be finished this weekend.
In other news, I fitted a new toilet for my parents. That wasn't a straightforward job, some of the plumbing must have been done when Queen Victoria was a girl ........ I got it done though. It's a good job I'm not averse to getting dirty lol.

Back soon.

It's that time of year........

I'm getting there, just a couple more things to buy and presents to wrap, cards to write and knitting to finish. Here's where I am.

A cross stitch that my sister had done has been made into a cushion for her granddaughter

I hope it's ok for her.

The Lacey shawl is nearing completion, about twelve inches of edging to do ....

In case you're wondering, the cushion cover was made by me. I saw one in a supermarket, T****o's, but couldn't justify paying the price so I appliquéd one. I'm proud of the finished result.

I also have another jumper to finish, another dinosaur one for a present. Photos of that later, I must crack on with everything. See you soon.

The surprise was finished

It started as this .........

Here is a not very flattering photo of me knitting it ..... I ought to have rearranged my face lol .....

And here it is finished ....

Yes it t's another jumper, number 4. The surprise was that my granddaughter didn't know I was knitting it for her.  She is pleased because it is sparkly. That's teenagers for you !

I was going well with the Lacey shawl, I had started on the edging strip but when I checked the side pieces I found a mistake that couldn't be fixed at the blocking stage so had to rip it back ....... I guess that's knitting .........

Nothing much else to say only that my printer has decided it doesn't want to print yellow so it looks as though a new one is on the horizon.

Please leave comments so I know I'm not here on my own.

The Lacey shawl......

Was going well. Middle and nearly two side pieces finished when I had to do this ......

Grrrrr...... A couple of escaped stitches caused mayhem......... A few hours later and back to this ....

As of now I only have a couple more rows to knit then I can cast off the second side but before I cast on for the third side I have to finish the surprise. I have to finish it this week ...... Anybody have any tips for making more hours in the day???

Lacey shawl

I did it, I took the plunge and bought some yarn to knit a Lacey shawl.

I am using an old Paton pattern, number 1085 and loving knitting it. Only 8 more repeats to go for the centre.

The surprise is going well and hopefully I will soon have a photo of the finished item to show.

Tea and knitting are just right for a miserable and wet UK day lol

Another unfinished wip

I remembered a jumper I started knitting about a year ago........ The back and front were finished, as was the first sleeve. Or so I thought........ It turns out that it had been put to one side because of a mistake in knitting the sleeve. I have now frogged it and restarted it.

Hopefully all will go right this time.

In other knitting news, my cardigan is progressing slowly but the surprise knit is coming along well.

I have thought about knitting a shawl in lace weight wool, inspired by other blogs I read.  Has anyone got any tips or recommendations for me?
I would appreciate anything on this subject.

Knitting, knitting, knitting

Granddaughter is very happy with her beanie hat, finished the day after my last post.
I had to frog my cardigan again. It has now gone from this .........

To this .........

Third time lucky. If it doesn't fit this time I'll find someone it does and give it to them.
Luckily it knits up quickly in Aran.

The surprise is coming along well.

Please leave comments, all are welcome.

I finished the sweater

The sweater for my granddaughter was finished yesterday and she is over the moon with it.

She then requested a beanie hat ........ 14 soon to be 15 years old teenage girls certainly know what they want lol .
Here it is started and shouldn't take long to finish.

I also have some WIPs to finish..... a pair of socks and cardigan for me that may have to be undone again. I wore it and washed it but it was far to big so I undone it and started again. Does that ever happen to you? Please tell. Also on the needles is a surprise that won't be shown until the recipient has it. Radio silence and all that.

Please don't be afraid to leave comments, I don't bite and would love to know that l'm not here on my own.

Near the finishing line

This is the 3rd incarnation of this sweater for my granddaughter, the first was red, the second was white. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of those.
Just the second sleeve to finish and then the neckband and sew it up.

It is finished

Just finished.... A jumper for a 4 year old boy.... My boyfriends grandson is mad about dinosaurs.

The worst part was sewing the loose ends in on the intarsia, I got there in the end though.
