to blog about the cream jumper I finished just before Christmas. It has been worn and washed since then and is warm and comfortable. Here it is ......
I appear to have sewn one of the side seams on the wrong side, that's what you get for rushing! A quick and easy fix but annoying.
Mum hasn't knitted for about 15years but saw some wool she liked. How much will I need? She asked. For a plain cardigan, about 500 grams I replied. (She's short and round) It transpired that it was sold in packs of 400 grams and she was going to buy 4 packs!!! Did she want a maxi cardigan? No, just a hip length plain cardigan, that's a 16 inch side seam and 15 inch sleeve seam on her. A day later and she had bought 2 packs of wool. A few days later and I have knitted the back and 1 and a half fronts.
In the meantime she decided she wanted to try knitting again (arthritis stopped her last time) so, armed with needles and a ball of wool I suggested she knitted something for my great nephew, their great grandson, who is 3 months old. Over the weekend she managed a cardigan. Then she bought some burgundy coloured wool to knit herself a cardigan. I know how she felt now when me and my sisters were knitting in our younger days. A frequent cry of "mam, I've gone wrong" and "maaaam, count my stitches" or "I've dropped a stitch" we're not uncommon. Last night involved ripping back the rib twice but slowly and steadily she managed about half a dozen rows before I left. I await todays episode....
I would never have thought things would turnaround like that. Oh well, onwards and upwards as they say...
Until next time, take care.
